RETURNED SOLDIERS’ GRATITUDE TO PRESIDENT

The following largely signed letter of appreciation has been forwarded to Mr. B. J. Jacobs, president of the Palmerston North branch of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, by members of that organisation:— “We, the undersigned, welcome this opportunity of voicing our very sincere appreciation of the successful ettorts of your good self in negotiating with the City Council and Unemployment Board to keep us employed. “Your request that we ‘do a little more’ than what might have been expected in the performance of our duties lias been faithfully carried out. and wc are sure you will he glad to know that 24 members, on concluding kerbin,o- and channelling work on Wednesday last, received the thanks and commendation of the City Council officials appointed to supervise them. “Wc feel that the successful organisation of this branch of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association is very largely due to the highly capable and conscientious way you have fathered its interests over a long period of years, and we look forward with pleasure to your election as Dominion president of the R.S.A., in which capacity we know you will bring further distinction and credit to the association.
