Thousand Unemployed Attempt to Stop Eviction

Baton charges by thirty policemen dispersed a crowd of about a thousand unemployed who had assembled at a Fitzroy house and threatened to cause trouble over tho eviction of a family. The unemployed tore pickets from fences, and were about to attack a police-sergeant and bailiff, when police cars arrived.
