Accident Toll
FIGURES FOR BRITAIN. LONDON, August. 3. In the House of Commons, Commander 0. Loeker-Lampson (Con., Handsworth) pointed out that 7305 persons were killed and 178,000 others injured in street accidents in Britain last .year.
The Home Secretary, Mr J. R. Clynes, replying, said ho feared that, in view of the revolution of transport and increasing speed, increased accidents wore inevitable. Though the police were becoming increasingly the guardians of the public in respect of road safety, the latter must increasingly depend upon individual carefulness,.
