ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TILL APRIL NEXT Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the House to-day the Trading Coupons Bill was introduced by GovernorGeneral’s message. Hon. do la Perrellc said the Bill was on the lines of the measure introduced last session. It provided that the existing gift and cash coupon systems should bo allowed to continue until April 30th, 19313. Coupons in packets, etc., issued by merchants or retailers after that date could only bo redeemed by cash. There was a provision to meet the case of Universal coupons, it had been found that the cxistkig legislation was faulty and the Bill proviued for its repeat and the substitution ot a clause rendering it an offence for any person other than the manufacturer, packer, importer or seller of goods to issue any trading coupons. Mr. Perrcllo added that it was proposed to take considerable evidence relating to the Bill and he would therefore ask that it bo referred to the Industries and Commerce Committee. Mr. A. M. Samuel said the Bill had been auviously awaited by a considerable section of the business community and ho did not like its operation being postponed until April, 1932. Immediately after its first reading the Bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to tho industries and Commerce Committee.
The hearing of evidence on tho Trading Coupons Bill by the Industries and Commerce Committee commences on Tuesday next.
