Whirokmo road has been blocked by floodwaters from the Mana watu river through the month. Holes have been scoured in the load depths up to six feet but, owing to the water receding a maintenance i t new engaged in repair work and the road will probably bo open ioi tiatho to-day. On account of the Whirokmo road being blocked, as also was the case of the Palmerston North-Shannon road, the Foxton-Shannon road ha been taking at times all norm a « south traffic and for the remainin o period all Whirokino road traffic. 1 "Extra efforts have been made to maintain the Eoxton-Shannon mad durino- the flood period, which has piovc a difficult matter, owing to the flooded state of the streams from which metal is usually procurable.
