An Economical Stew

One lb. of bees steak, a pinch of thyme, two bay leaves, half a tablespoonful of flour, one onion, one pint of water, loz. dripping. Cut the meat into small pieces, and put into a stew jar with the herbs and pepper and salt. Cover with water, - stew gently. Cut the onions fine, and fry in the dripping a nice brown. Add to the stew, and thicken the gravy with flour, and stew slowly for one and a-half hours. Serve with suet dumpling.
