School Ball
Friday night is being keenly awaited by the kiddies of the city, particularly the West End children' for the West End school’s annual plain and fancy dress ball is being held on that night. The event is always a popular one and in spite of the existing economic conditions, it is not anticipated that on this auspicious occasion worldly worries will affect.the children's pleasure. The ball will be officially opened by the Mayor (Mr. A. E. Mansford) at 7 o’clock. Tho large dance hall has been beautifully decorated by members of the eommitteo under the capable guidance of Mr. W .Schwabe and presents a very pleasing effect. The ladies ’ committee have worked very energetically and have collected a largo number of valuable prizes to be awarded to the costume winners. All sections are provided for and in addition special prizes are being awarded to “Best Dressed Boy and Girl,” “Poster,” “Paper, “Most Original,” “Most Economical,, etc. A special dance programme is being drawn up for the adults to make provision for both old-time and modern dances. Nothing is being left undone by the committee to ensure a successful function.
