Grand National Sale at Addington

This week’s market at Addington was the Grand National "double,” one. ana it attracted, as usual, show stock in the fat sections. The display in the fat cattle section was slightly better than for some years. Tho North Island was strongly represented, and all the South Island, including tho West Coast. Store sheep: A moderato entry, mostly owes of mixed appearance, camo forward, and there was a dragging sale, with many passings. Values were: Good s.m. halfbred and crossbred ewes, 14/ to 16/10; medium s.m. halfbred and crossbred ewes, 30/ to 12/6; plain s.m. halfbred and crossbred ewes, 6/ to 9/; good six and eight-tooth Corricdale ewes, to 16/10.

Spring lambs; There was an entry ol 61 head of disappointing quality. The top price was 43/4, but other values ranged down to 12/4. Fat sheep: An entry of 5600 was submitted and met with a keen sale, with the demand well maintaned. There was a consignment of 492 sheep from the North Island. Prices generally advanced by 1/ a head on all classes. Values were: Show wethers, to 58/; extra prime heavy wethers, 22/ to 24/; prime wethers, 18/6 to 21/; medium wethers, 15/ to 18/; light wethers, 12/ to 14/6; show ewes, to 25/; extra prime ewes, 19/6 to 21/6; prime heavy ewes, 17/6 to 19/; prime ewes, 15/ to 17/; medium ewes, 11 to 14/6; light ewes, 9/ to 10/6; show hoggets, to 30/4; extra prime hoggets, 21/ to 22/6; prime hoggets, 18/ to 20/; medium hoggets, 15/ to 17/6; light hoggets, 10/ to i 4/. Fat cattle: An entry of 563 provided the best quality seen at a Grand National sale for some years. Many show cattle were entered. Yesterday’s Johnsonviile Sale

WELLINGTON, Last Night.

Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Johnsonviile sale, hold today, as follows: There was a largo attendance of buyers present, to whom wo submitted 136 head of cattle and 1546 sheep. The cattle comprised mostly prime quality bullocks, with several pens of prime cows and hefers. Competition throughout tho sale was keen, particularly for heavy bullocks and ewes. Prices were up about 10/ a head on cattle. A good sale resulted for sheep. Wethers, if anything, showed no advance on last week’s rates, but ewes were firmer to the extent of 1/ a head. Lambs, which were in short supply, met with a good sale.
