Bush Definitely Superior to Dannevirke
HOLD BEBBINGTON SHIELD 14—0. Per Press Association. PAHIATUA, Last Night. Bush to-day retained the Bebbington Shield, outplaying Dannevirko to the tune of 14 to nil. The weather was lino but the ground heavy and sticky. The first spell was very even and confined purely to the forwards who were well matched.
The Bush vanguard dominated practically the whole of tho second spell. The forwards wore down the defence, allowing the backs to round off pretty movements. Galvin, the Bush rover, was tho outstanding player on the ground and was responsible for several clever tries. Mahoney and S. Olliver were in tho picture all tho way. Tries for Bush were scored by Aitcheson, Hope, Wolland and Reeves, while Mabey converted one. The victors fielded the best all-round team for many years. Southland Beat Wairarapa 23—16 INVERCARGILL, Last Night. In a representative match played hero this afternoon in fine weather with an overcast sky Southland defeated Wairarapa by 23 points to 16. Southland had the lion’s share of tho ball throughout but made numerous mistakes.
