From Our Own Correspondent. On Saturday afternoon a number of prospective footballers gathered on the recreation grounds and engaged in some useful practice. This was the nrst practice of the season. Mr. R. J. Sutherland, of Wellington, was an Easter visitor to Bunnythorpc, whore he stayed with his mother, Mrs. J. Sutherland. Misses M. Knight and L. Saunders were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. Wild for the Easter holidays. TENNIS The Tennis Club's B team visited Pohangina on Saturday to play a return match against the Pohangina B team. The travellers were unfortunate in losing the match by seven games, the score being eight sets all and 76 games to 69 in favour of Pohangina. Nevertheless, an enjoyable time was spent by the visitors. The A team did not visit Rongotea, as had previously been intended. The holidays marked another stage in the local club's tournaments, several matches being played during the week and week-end. The men’s handicap doubles were won by F. Patience and O. Jackson. The following results had been recorded up to Monday evening: Men’s handicap doubles: —Scconjl Tound: F. Patience and O. Jackson (5) beat G. Duthic and E. Williams (scr.) 50 —48. Final: Patience and Jackson beat J. Baker and H. Godfrey (15) 50—41. Ladies’ handicap doubles: —Second round: Misses E. Robson and L. Gore (12) beat Misses W. Robson and M. Godfrey (-5) 43—41 in a closely contested finish. Mixed handicap doubles: —First round: J. Baker and Miss M. Godfrey (15) beat F. Patience and Mrs. Jackson (5) 50—47. Second round: Baker and Miss Godfrey beat J. Gore and Miss E. Robson (scr.) 50 —35. Ladies’ handicap singles: —-Third round: Miss Patience (5) beat Miss G. Schcidt (22) 40—30. Mixed championship doubles: —Second round: H. Robson and Miss W. Robson beat R. Clark and Miss A. Patience 6—l, 6 —o.
