Feilding Swimmer's Success
PATTY SPORLE’S RECORD Ever sinco Jittio Patty Bporle, oi Feiiding, wiio last week established a new record for the ladies' 100 yards intermediate record at Ashburton, took to the water, sho has been recognised as possessing a turn of speed which would one day win for her a position among the iirst swimmers of the Dominion. That day came last week at the championship meeting where Feiiuing's star representative defeated the previous holder of the title for the distance and established a new record which made people think of Patty iiporle and of Feiiding. Naturally endowded with strong swimming propensities these would not have been made the best use of had not this youthful exponent of tho natatorial art been taken in hand by Harry Parsonage, her trainer, who has been prominently identified in swimming circles in Feiiding for many years. He picked a winner when some four or live weeks back he told the writer that he was confident that his pupil would not only win the event for which sho was specially schooled but would crack the existing record. Feiiding has seen Patty in action many times and sho has always swum to the form her trainer nas nominated. Her performances elsewhere have been exceptional for a girl of her age and her distinguished success is largely duo to the painstaking and enthusiastic coaching of Mr. Parsonage. Another pupil or Mr Parsonage, Betty Harford, also competed at the championship meeting, whero she was successful in tho handicap event in which sho entered.
