Two Samoan Women Are Prosecuted For Illegal Activities
BOUND OVER BY JUDGE. 1 United Press Association, —By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Friday, 7 p.iii. APIA, April 23. Mrs. Nelson was charged with identifying herself and expressing approval of a soditious organisation, and her sister, Mrs. Muench, faced two charges of aiding Samoan women to hold formal gatherings without tho consent of the Inspector of Police. Judge Luxford, in convicting tho defendants, said he regarded tho offences seriously. He discharged both on condition that they would not hereafter assist any organisation of which Samoans were members, except such as might bo approved of by the Court, Judge or Commissioner, or arc not convicted of any offence subsequently and pay within 2S days five guineas towards the cost of the prosecutions and to note that a breach of the conditions will bo regarded as an offence, rendering them liable to sentence. In concluding, he said: “Therefore, your own conduct in future will determine whether you will still rotain your liberty and whether you will be allowed to continue your residence in Samoa.”
