The following shows the month’s progiess and also tho position to date:— Danneviike borough, 759 connections; county, 709; AVoodville borough, 219 connections; county 808. Total number of consumers, 2011; total number of services, 2770, made up as follows: Lighting 2012, dairy motors 213, generni motors 182, ranges 109, water heaters 221, increase in connected load 50.53 k.w., additions to installations 2(i, new installations connected 19. The inspector reported the present month as being an extremely busy one. Contractors had taken on extra men to cope with the work which w : as coming in splendidly. Services were well forward, therefore the new consumers were connected without delay. Main* tenanco work was also well forward. A good deal of tree cutting had bceu done but the lines throughout this area were again practically dear. The AVoodville area had not yet been cleared 'up, therefore an.extra man was sent down to that end to assist. Tho copper mine line was erected during the month and will, be livened on the first suitable day. The work within the Dunuevirkc borough is progressing fairly steadily. Many extra heavy lines have been erected. This gang, howevor, was frequently taken off this work lo do line construction and also assist the service gang when necessary. AVith

the exccpliou of one short line in High sheet consumers have received a, good service during the month. The line mentioned blew fuses on three different nights for no apparent, reason, it now seems to have settled down to normal running again. -A piece of wire thrown across the board's lines at Alangale.ru on the 13th. inst. caused considerable trouble but fortunately little damage was dune. The board’s ’phone system which was livened up by this piece of wire became dangerous until all the fuses except those at AVoodville blew cut. Here the danger was greatest and it was necessary to open the main switch for about 39 seconds to allow the ’phone wires to be cut. An interrupt ion in the supply to l’iri Pin and Tataramoa for 39 minutes was then necessary to remove the fault. A shut-down to do work on main lines was being arranged and would probably take place ou the ..'9th. inst. Canvassing during the month had been carried out chiefly through new areas around I\orsowood. It was probable that a number of lines would bo put forward for authorisation at the next meeting. One short line to Messrs. Smith and Alagnusscn (who had guaranteed the necessary amount of revenue) would be put in hand immediately. He recommended the board to proceed with this line, which ran from Grundy 's road along Magnusscn’s road in the Norsewood area.

The chairman said one of tho pleasures of the board was increasing its consumers in the reticulated area. AVith reference to the new Norsewood areas, the chairman said there wore one or two holding out in regard to the required guarantee. Last night lie and the engineer had met the settlers of the district concerned when they had a very line meeting, but the settlers were still undecided. The matter would be iinalised by the next mcctit,g. The report was adopted. Accounts stand as follow: Loan Fund, £97.1 9s 3d; power board fund, £BBI 12s Id; trading fund, £275 6s 3d; total, £2,131 7s 7d.
