New Shipping Service. From Our Own Correspondent. News was received on Tuesday ol the departure from Lyttelton of the liimataugi Shipping Company’s steamer “Himatangi” on her first voyage to Foxton. The steamer is carrying approximately 3UO tons of produce for the Manawatu district and her arrival in port is creating considerable interest, At the invitation of the provisional directors of the company, the Chamber of Commerce ha.s promised its co-operation in fittingly celebrating the event. Captain Nelson is in command of the vessel and has associated with him as first officer, Mr Copeland. Mr Phillips is chief engineer. Personal. Mr B. A. At a. recent- meeting of the Horowher,ua Electric Power board, it was decidcd to make a reduction to consum* or.-- on certain rates now being charged, The now' rates are as under; — General lighting: For the first 150 units per month, Sd. per unit; the second 150 units are to be charged at the rate of 6d. per unit. Anything over 300 units per month' will be charged for at 5d per unit. In the case of milking machine motors, the board decided to charge-the following rates, which arc to come into operation after the third bi-monthly payment jn the present financial year. For the first 100 units per month, 4d per unit. The rates for tho consumption of over 100 units, 3d. per unit, and anything over 200 units pier month, 2d per unit. It was further decided that the charge for electric lire,sirens, be at the flat rate of £1 per year.
