TORNADO CUTS TRACK OVER ONAERO FARMS

TUBES HAZED AND BARNS DAMAGED BUSH-CLAD GULLY STRIPPED. Per Press Association. ' NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. A startling tornado occurred in the Onaero district, north of Waitara, during a severe electrical storm this afternoon.
Sweeping up fjorn the sea in a zigzag course, it wrought havoc on a number of farms, razing belts of trees and damaging barns and other buildings. Tho fury of the tornado was shown in a gully, the sides of which were clothed with heavy native busn. Here, timber was uprooted en masse, tho roots of tho trees lifting the earth with them, so that tho hillsides afterwards presented the appearanco of having been subject to a big landslide. The storm raged furiously for some time, hailstones of extraordinary size pelting down.
