UNEMPLOYED SEEK TO PROVIDE FOR WINTER
INVEKOARGILL MEETING. GOVEBMENT’S DUTY TO SECURE WORK. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. Some 60 unemployed men of Invercargill met this afternoon to discuss means of providing for. the winter. The chairman stated that he had interviewed a number of small tradesmen and they were all of opinion that things wore not too good. It was the government’s duty to help and the meeting should strongly urge upon thorn tho necessity for such help. Winter was coming on and they did not want soup kitchens but employment They were in the Prime Minister's constituency and it was only right that they should expect him to do something. The meeting finally decided strongly to urge the government to provide employment in the district
