A London cable reports the death of Mr Charles Tigg, who played against the Australians at Lords in 1879. Mr. H. L. McGregor, accountant of' the Palmerston North branch of the Bank of N.S.W., has been appointed temporary manager of the bank's new branch at To Awamutu.
Visitors welcomed at meeting of the Palmerston North Citizens’ Luncheon Club were Messrs. Vennell and Jordan, of Timaru and B. T. Tidswcll (Palmerston North). At a meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Sub-Centro of the - Boyal Life-Saving Society, held on Monday, a motion of sympathy was accorded Mr. W. Hebden, a member of the executive, who has recently lost his wife. Dr. Duncan, government balnealogist, who had arranged a lecture tour across tho TJ.S.A. and Europe this year, has now decided, in view of the proposed building activity in connection with the work at Eotorua, to postpone his tour indefinitely. Members of the Palmerston North Citizens’ Luncheon Club stood for a moment in silence at their weekly gathering yesterday as a mark of symuathy with the relatives of the late Mr. James Aiken, a member of the club, who passed away suddenly on Monday. *
