Weddings

WATKINS—MILLEE. St. Barnaba’s Church, Auckland, was the scene on Thursday evening of the wedding o-f Sylvia, only daughter of Mrs. A. A. Miller, of Mt. Eden, and Bupert, eldest son of Mrs. Watkins, of D-anncvirkc. Canon McFarlane performed the -ceremony, and Mr White was the organist. The bride entered the church with her grandfather, Mr G. H. Brookes, and wore a gown of ivory georgette fashioned on simple lines. The skirt had three small frills on the hem, which was cut in uneven length, the bodice was ruehed at the waist, and from the shoulder fell a spray of silver and orange blossom which continued down the left side of the gown. The embroidered tulle veil, whieh formed the train, was held in place by three strands of orange blossom buds, and clusters of blooms at the ears. She carried a shower bouquet of white lilies, carnations, and roses. Her two bridesmaids, Misses, Queoaic Self and Bernice Brookes, wore dainty frilled tulle frocks of ceil blue, and shell-pink, respectively, tho bodices being of moire silk, and trailers of flowers in silver and pink from tho shoulder to the waist. Small bandeaux of silver with edgings of flowers were worn for head dresses, and shower bouquets of pink and blue summer flowers were carried. Jean McCornb and Josephine Sinel were. Their frocks were alike, in white tulle frilled skirts, satin bodices, and niched (tulle and rosebud wreaths round their heads. Eaeh cariod a silver basket of pink, mauve, and white flowers. The best man was Mr A. M. Watkins, and Mr A. Maykill was groomsman.

The wedding reception was held at the Mt. Eden croquet pavilion, which was festooned with bunting and greenery. The bride’s mother wore a beige silk marocain,. black hat with ribbon and flowers, and carried an autumn tinted bouquet. Tho bridegroom’s mother wore a mastic silk crepe fleuri, hat to tone, and shaded golden bouquet.
