THE ROAD TO HEALTH

EXEECISE AND FEESH AIE. ALSO MOENING BATH. As the “way to health” is a pleasant journey, an early start is advised. Start when you stop sleeping.. Don’t stop for a cup of tea in bed —it wastes time and tissues. It is a serious delay on tho journey to ‘Better Hoalth.’ It is bad for you. Drink hot water instead (writes a medical man in the “London Daily Express”).

Jump out of bed and throw wider open the already open window. Let the sun stream in—it loses its vital power if it passes through the glass. Get sunshine to your body. Get sunshine to your mind. If you have been eating correctly, and living sanely, you will feel “full of the joy of spring.’’ If you foel lethargic and long for “another ten minutes’’ in bed, you have been interfering in some way with Nature's orderliness. Allow yourself an extra 15 minutes before breakfast for exercise and bath. Fifteen minutes a day keep disease away. During exercise fresh air, always an essential, must be insisted on. Either exercise in a room with a wide open window (taking care to avoid draughts) or, in the garden. Natural Breathing. Physical exercise should be in time with the rhythm of natural breathing. Breathe gently and adequately. “Deep breathing’’ does not mean taking deeper breaths than are natural. The way to health is by being natural. Do not hold the breath while exercising. Inhale fully, exhalo gently as the lungs become filled. In the process, the chest should expand and the abdomen contract. Both mouth and nose should be employed in breathing. Inhale through the nose; exhale through the mouth. After the physical exercises take a bath. This can be warm or cold. Many people cannot take cold baths; no one should take them too warm. The less warm the better.

The secret behind tho bath (no matter what form) is the after-rub. This is the best skin gymnastics possible. The pores are washed out, the nerves are stimulated, and the skin feels free to breathe.
