SWIMMING IN ENGLAND AT LOW EBB

“ DEPLORABLE TIMES.” Sun Cable. Received Friday, 2 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 27. The Amateur Swimming Association directs attention to the deplorable times recorded by English entrants, also the paucity of entries in the men’s middle and long distance events. It points out that the mile championship, which is the blue riband of Englisb swimming, secured only three entrants of whom two started. The New Zealander, D. P. Lindsay, alone completed the course, while the winner of the half mile championship was nearly & minute outside the standard., The committee declared the time had arrived when these regrettable features must be remedied.
