THE TIVOLI
‘ ‘ DANCING VIENNA. ” , Lya Mara has quickly become recognised as one of the great favourites amongst film actresses throughout Europe and has gained quite a large following of fans. “Dancing Vienna” is a delightful romance of the European stage that has as its basis the contrast between waltz and jazz time as applied to the modern audience. Lya Mara typifies the Viennese sentiment of tho waltz, whilst Ben Lyon, one of the leading American actors, presents the case for Jazz. Throughout the film, dancing is well to tho fore. Lya Mara excels in this direction, as sh : commenced her artistic career as a student of ballet and first appeared on tho stago when she was only seven years old. Since then sho has worked her way up to prima ballerina, and in recent years has applied her artistic talents to the films. In “Dancing Vienna” sho is irresistible, not only in the Viennese waltz, but also in tho international metamorphoses shown in tho dancing revues scenes included in the picture. Whethor it be in the gavotte, can can or the jazz, sho appears to bo equally at home, and gives an excellen: performance. “Blake of Scotland Yard” will also be screened.
Tho screening , to-morrow, “Finnegan’s Ball,” is a hilarious comedy’, featuring Blanche Mcllaffey.
