BREMNER ’S RINK WINS TWO SEMI-FINAL GAMES

la the Dominion Bowling Associati oil’s cliamiiiou singles final, Archie Coltman (Carlton) defeated Dc Launay (Epsom). The semi-final games in the champion rinks saw Bremner (West End) defeat both McWlmnnell (Hataitai) and Doherty (Ivclburn). As the latter was unbeaten, he had two lives and so had to bo beaten twice.

Results of to-day’s play were:— Champion Rinks.

Semi-finals—West End: Hardley, Nclham, Clark, Brmner (s) defeated Itataitai: Joscplison, Carswell, Welling.?, McWhanncll (s) 25 —10. Bremnor scored 7 points on the first two heads and his score was never headed or equalled • during the game. Tho nine point win about represented the difference in the rinks. Bremner got his break on McWkannell whan from tho fourth to tho ninth round (inclusive) tho latter was not permitted to score.

West End: Hardley, Nclham, Clark, Bremner (s) defeated Ivclburn: Petcrie, Howarth, Koutloy, Doherty (s) 23—9.

The Ivclburn rink was off its game and never for a moment displayed championship form, nor was the issuo in doubt. The score fairly represented the difference in the quality of the bowls played. Champion Singles.

The final game was between Coltman (Carlton )and De Launay (Epsom). It was puroly an exhibition game of drawing the shot on a slippery green, when every fraction of an ounce In weight counts for feet of running. Coltman, on tho day, outdrew his man though really there was not so much betwee n them perhaps as the score would seem to denote.

Coltman won the game by 20 point to 12. Up to tho ninth head, tho going was even. The twenty-first head was not played. The semi-finalists in the champion pairs arc Edwards (Temuka), McWhanncll (Hataitai), Doherty (Ivelburn) and Lawrence (Linwood). ’ '

Queensland Visitors Are Delighted With Westport “ BILLIARD TABLE GREEN.’' WESTPORT, Last Night. The Queensland bowling party arrived from Reefton at mid-day and this afternon played a two-rink match with Westport, Blaxall (Westport) winning from MacMillan (Queensland), 23—15, and Struthors (Westport) winning Curran (Queensland), 20—18. Westport won on tho total by 43 to 33. Tho weather, though threatening, kept fine. Tho visitors wore impressed with tho green. Curran remarked: “I have played on almost every green in Australia, but never before on a green liko this. It is a .freak green—a billiard table.” Tho visitors were so delighted with the play that they asked their hosts to cut out tho social arranged for the evening so that they might get back on to the green, where they remained playing until reluctantly forced through the darkness to desist.

Tho visitors, 17 strong, including ladies, were accorded an official Welcome by Mr. Arthur Morely, president of tho Westport Bowling Club, anV a civic reception by tho Mayor, Mr. J. H. Harkncss. The visitors leave for Nelson to-morrow morning, leaving there in tho morning by stcamor for Wellington to undertake a North Island tour.
