MAGISTRATE REFUSES INTERIM SUPPRESSION

In the Mogistratc’s Court to-day, Thiguc John Lagan, aged 34, a clerk, came before Mr.- Mosley, S.M., charged with the theft of a postal packet containing £1 6s in postal notes, th'e property of the Postmaster-General. He was remanded till January 15. Counsel asked for tho interim suppression of tho accused’s - pame, in view" of family circumstances. Tho magistrate said that if he acceded to the request he would bo laying down a rule that all names were to bo suppressed before tho final hearing. That was too much to expect, and he was not going to make a precedent. Bail was allowed.
