HEAVY REDUCTION IN INCOME TAX RECEIPTS
NINE MONTHS’ REVENUE. BRITISH EXCHEQUER SHOWS BIG DEFICIT. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, Jan. 3. The Exchequer returns show a heavy reduction of over £21,000,000 in tho income tax receipts, but this is mainly explained by the comparison being with a year in which, owing to changes in the machinery of collection, the receipts from the house property tax covered a period of 18 instead of 12 months. A reduction of over £4,000,000 in tho super-tax is disclosed. The estate duties yielded £5,000,000 more than in tho previous nine months, whereas the official estimate was for a reduction on the whole year of £5,000,000. Tho activity on the Stock Exckango i-t reflected in an increase of over £2,500,000 in stamp revenue.
