SEAMAN’S UNHAPPY LOVE AFFAIR
SUICIDES BY SHOOTING. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Tho body o-f Herbert Bryant, a donkeyman on the steamer Waipatu, was found on the lawn at Mr. George Roper’s house, Spotswood, to-day, with a gunshot wound in his chest. Bryant had been staying with Roper on a holiday. He took the gun, saying he was going shooting, said goodbye to the family and left, Almost immediately a shot was hoard and the body found. Letters to relatives in England were found on the body, expressing deceased’s intention to commit suiciae. It is said Bryant was despondent as a result of an unsuccessful love affair.
