MANAWATU HUNT

GREAT JUMPING AT AOKAUTERE. The best and most enjoyable' bunt that has ever taken place at Aokautcre was bold there last Saturday afternoon. There was quite a big field of followers and the largest crowd of spectators ever assembled there at a hunt. With the recent fine weather, naturally the paddocks were in perfect order. Sonic of the obstacles were quite on the big side, and there was some magnificent jumping, splendid horsemanship especially being shown by the lady members of the chase. Drags were laid for the first run by Miss Ruby Bailey on Hats Oil, and Miss. Myra Benton on Glen, and for the second run by Messrs. W. Scott on, Glad. Eye and Don Scott on Cossack. There wore not any spill. Among those ifollowing. were Messrs. L. H. Collinson (master) on Birkcnosc; J. Waller (huntsman) on Scrap Irota; F. ■ Edmonds (hen; whip) ‘Moonlight; Miss Etto Anderson, Pearl; Miss Banks, Bambolina; Miss J. Banks, Coker’s Chestnut; Miss Myra Benton; Glen; Miss Ruby Bailey, Hats Off; Miss Laura Meade, Valencia; Miss Phyllis Meade; Pippin; Miss M. .Webb, Jack; Mrs. Sell, Robin Adair; Mrs. Meade, Prudence; Messrs. W. Scott, Glad Eye; Don Scott, Cossack; M. E. Wood, Sunart; B. Doherty, The Artist; C. Edmonds, Bonnie Maid; P. Gallagher, Uncle Bob; G. Stevens, Tcrehu; 11. Benton, a bay; R. Miles Jrij Jazz. After the hunt afternoon tea was partaken of at the public hall, and the master, Mr. L. 11. Collinson; proposed a vote of thanks to the ladies of the district for their hospitality, and to the property owners for the use of their paddocks, which was carried with cheers. Mr. Walter Scott, in acknowledging the vote ,said everybody in the district took keen interest in the sport, and they were always pleased to have the hunt there. The season will be finally wound up on Wednesday with point-to-point steeplechases at To Matai. Before dispersing, dancing was indulged in to music kindly contributed by Miss Winnie Gosling.
