BOY CYCLIST DIES FROM HEART DISEASE
INQUEST FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY’S TKAGEDY. The Coroner, Mr. A. J. Graham, ye» terday morning conducted an inquest into the circumstances surrounding, the death of a lad named Leopold Franck Tahnion, who died suddenly on Wednes day .morning, when cycling to work. , Dr. Hunter. Will gave evidence as to examining the body shortly after death Hp had conducted a post mortem and found all the organs healthy .with the exception of the heart, one valvo of which was diseaSea. or noum was a diseased heart valve, brought abput by rheumatic endocarditis. The probabilities were that during an earlier ■period of his life, deceased had had a febrile attack which would injure thn heart. Joseph Tannion, of Palmerston North, father of the deceased, stated in evidence that as far as he knew his sou was in normal health. Witness was not aware that his son’s heart had been in any way diseased. As far as he knew the boy had had no serious illness during his life. Edward Campbell, a gas fitter, residing in Albert street, stated that he had known the deceased lad well. On Wednesday morning ho had been proceeding ito work with the boy down Church street. Suddenly at the corner of Victoria Avenue, the lad had suddenly swerved and fallen off Ids cycle. Wit ness endeavoured to assist him, but ho had died before witness bad been able to get him to a doctor.
The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the evidence, that the deceased, Leopold Francis Tannion, died at Palmerston North on July 18, as the result of a valvular weakness of the heart.
