From Our Own, Correspondent. There was a very good attendance at tho local school on Thursday afternoon of parents and those interested in school work. The splendid display of handiwork was arrayed on tables in the corridor, and for quality and variety, reflected great credit on teachers and scholars alike. Tho chairman of the committee (Mr Maxwell) in a few words thanked those present for their attendance. < Miss Myrtle Ranson who has joined tho staff of the Public Hospital. Palmerston North, is leaving hero at the end of the month to take up duty. Miss Eanson will bo greatly missed in the township where she has taken an active part in social affairs and more particularly by the hockey , club in which she has been one of the club’s : foremost players. Her many friends will wish her every success in her new sphere. _ / >*j I .Mr and Mrs Wilton, of Hiwintd;' entertained a number of friends at a ■ progressive euchre party in honour of |Mr and Mrs Dick Godfrey, who Are on holiday here. A most enjoyable evening was spent, Mrs Wiggins winning the ladies’ prize and Mr Duncan the gents’. A very dainty supper brought to a close a happy gathering.
