P.N. DEFEATS MARTON. I On the Palmerston North Club’s green, Linton street, on Saturday, an inter-club match was played with Mar-; ton. The visitors were defeated but many close games were contested. Men’s Singles: Wheeler beat Hooper 12-9; Grover beat Guy lost to Mawhincy, 3-12; Ball lost to Burgess, 8-12; Walker beat Fox, 12-8; Barrington lost to Robertson, 4-12. Ladies’ Doubles: Misses Wilkie and Gaisford lost to Misses Litchfield and Astlc, 0-9; Misses Robinson and Sutcliffe lost to Misses Wallace and Haggitt, 3-9; Mrs Cunningham and Miss Illston lost to Misses Matheson and Monrad, S-9. Men’s Doubles: Wheeler and Grover beat Hooper and Guy, 12-6; Howard and Ball lost to Mawhiney and Burgess 7-12; Walker and Barrington lost to Fox and Robertson, 10-12.
