HOSE USERS TO BE PROSECUTED
ALLEGED OFFENDERS INCLUDE TENNIS CLUBS. The names of two persons who, it was alleged, had used the hose on their gardens contrary to the decision of the Palmerston North Borough Council that such would be illegal during tbe present dry spell, were handed in to the Borough Council meeting last night. Councillor M. A.. Eliott moved that they be prosecuted. Councillor G. N. Clausen; What about the Palmerston North Tennis Club? There was a lake of water there on the Monday before we went to Tiritea. Councillor Eliott: Well, include - the Tennis Club in the prosecutions. Councillor Clausen: I don't like mentioning these things. The Mayor: I was told thos caretaker misunderstood his instructions. The hose was stopped immediately the secretary of the club was rung up about it. Councillor J. Hodgens; I am not going to support the motion unless the Tennis Club is included. They received a warning whereas the other two persons did not. It would be unfair to prosecute one without the other. The Council agreed to prosecute the Tennis Club as well.
