MANAWATU PLAYING FOR HAWKE CUP TO-DAY

To-day, Wanganui, the present holders of the Hawke Cup—a trophy in competition among the minor associations of the Dominion —meet Manawatu in a challenge match for possession, the game being determined on the outcome of a two innings contest. Cook’s Gardens, Wanganui, will he the playing area, play commencing at 11 o’clock each day. The following eleven will do duty for Manawatu: —McVlcar, Norris, Galliohan, Mullins, Ohgley (capt.), and Pcgdon (Palmerston), Diederieh and Paccy (Old Boys), McSweeny (R.S.A.) O’Keefe (High School) and Bull (Horowhcnua). Young (Old Boys) was originally selected to make the trip, hut ho has been unable to gain the necessary leave, while another inclusion in McDonald, of Fcilding. who captured eight wickets—including the “hat trick ”on Saturday—is unable to accompany the team. The local eleven travel by the Wanganui service car leaving at 7.30 o’clock this morning.
