FIRE AT RONGOTEA
DWELLING AND SHOP DESTROYED Fire totally destroyed a five-roomed duelling and shop at Rohgotea early yesterday 'morning. The premises wore owned by Mr. A. E. Wilton and occupied by Mr. F. L. Wlldbore who lost the whole of his furniture, so quickly did the flames 1 reduce the structure to a heap of ashes. The outbreak was discovered by Mr W. ’Pedlcy who was awakened by the sound of falling glass. The flames then had a tremendous hold and all attempts to subdue them were unavailing. A hastily formed bucketbrigade concentrated its efforts upon saving Mr W. Ameys house adjoining and,they were successful. Mr Amey, ; however, had meanwhile removed his furniture to a place of safety in case ; of eventualities. A quantity of furniture owned by ' Mr Wilton and stored in one of tho rooms, was also destroyed.
