The winner l s considered one of the logical contenders for a bout with Tunney. Maloney weighed- 203Hb and Delaney 1721 b. # JANSEN v. JAMITO. Fight fans are in for a night of thrills on Saturday at the Opera House, when Raymond Jansen meets Silvino Jamito in a fifteen-round battle. At Wanganui last Thursday night, the audience were on their toes all the time ,and when Jansen got his man groggy .excitement became intense. The little Frenchman has won two out of his three fights in the Dominion, and in ( meetlng a fighter of his own calibre here this week, will be up against a fairly stiff proposition. His training quarters are at present the scene of great activity a s realising that he is not meeting an ordinary’opponent, hard training is absolutely necessary. To Jamito, falls the honour of giving Jansen the fight of his career. The little Filipino’s reputation for hard hitting and clean fighting Is well known.- D urin & bis stay in New Zealand he has met boxers of all types, but it is doubtful if he has met a real fighter, and certain that he has not met one the stamp of his opponent this week. Half the proceeds of the battle are to be devoted to the candidature of Miss Norma Braddell for Queen of the Carnival her e next week while the boxers receive fifty per cent of the gross gate. In addition to the professional contest, a series of preliminaries will be staged, when all the prominent amateurs of all weights will be seen in action. Chief among these will be th e meeting of Roy Potbury and Jim Evans, the latter being the Manawatu bantam champion.
