NARROW ESCAPE

FOR LADY MOTORIST. NEARLY HITS ROYAL TRAIN. Kimbolton Road 'railway crossing was very nearly, the scene of a■ nasty motor smash at 6.20 o’clock on Saturday evening when the Royal train, en i-Outo for Auckland passed through Feilding. A lady motorist in a closed in car, was approaching the town, and apparently unconscious of the close proximity of tlie Royal vehicle proceeded over the crossing. A pedestrian endeavoured, without result, to attract the lady’s attention, and the car passed over the crossing missing the cow catcher by Inches.’ The engine driver' saw the car and applied the brakes and it was undoubtedly that momentary check which averted the disaster lookers on feared. The car proceeded on its vyay and the Royal train picked up speed again.
