THE AKINO FIRE
THE INSURANCES, In connection with the fire at Makino on Sunday morning, the insurances were as follows: Buildings, £500; stock and 'plant, £650; furniture, £150; and piano, £7O. It is very probable that at the next meeting of the Feilding Fire Board* the question of equipping the local brigade with a pumping, engine will be again reviewed and a decision made to purchase one. When the matter was before the Board last year the proposal was turned down, but the Makino fire has emphasised the need for such a pump to help the water pressure . when. dealing with fires on the higher levels.
