100 PER CENT. PROFIT STORY. William Robinson, G2, a bookmaker, of Queen’s road, Ealing,, London, was charged on remand at Ealing with conspiring with Roy Douglas between May 19 and June 30 to obtain £lO 00 from William Wailing by false pretences, and converting to his own use £l5O belonging to Dr. Rox Godfrey Blake Marsh. Henry Raymond Browniow. 55, commission agent .who was charged with conspiring with .Robinson to obtain the money from Dr. Marsh, did not surrender to his bail, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Robinson told him that he had taken an interest In him, and questioned him as to his prospects. Ho told him that he Intended to become a general practitioner when he was able to find the necessary' £3OOO, but had only £OOO. Robinson said that ho had a business deal on hand by which ho hoped to make a profit of 100 per cent, in the course of a few day's, and offered him a £SOO share on the condition that he paid 5 per cent, commission to cover incidental expenses. Big Bundle of Cheque''. Robinson opened a suitcase to got a bottle of brandy and displayed a bundle of cheques ranging from £3OOO to £20.000 each. After discussing the matter with his wife he (Dr. Marsh) told Robinson he would take a £2OO share in the deal. Robinson (hen said: "It is to do with a horse in the Lincolnshire Handicap,” He said the horse’s name was Parth. and that the deal was on the price of (he horse in the betting market before the race. Robinson said ho could buy bets at. 10 to 1. but when the price was shortened he wouid sell.
