HOLLOW’EEN CELEBRATIONS
MANAWATU SCOTTISH SOCTETS GATHERING ! RESULTS OP COMPETITIONS ■ Yesterday was Hallow’een, arttj occasion on which Scottish Societies*! throughout the world celebrate. And. this year Hallow’een was recorded ! by the Scots of Palmerston North J and district in a manner that would have done justice to a gathering at Home in Bonnie Scotland. ThoMunicipal Hall was utilised, and! special care had been taken by th«committee in the decorations, and thS-f arrangements of the programme.
The early part of the evening wtd; devoted to competitions and games for the young people, and the echoing peals of laughter indicated hove, thoroughly these were being enjoyed* Results are ns below:— Dancing (open to Mr Raeburn’S? pupils , only).—Girls: Section A, Pat-,-ricia Edwards 1, Connie Cooksley 2* Lorraine Cooksley 3. Section B: Ruth MacLeod 1, Mari Jary 2, Marcell* Edwards 3. Boys: Section B; Rex Smith 1, Berry Cooksley 2. Girls' consolation; Joyce Cruttenden 1%, Mary Blue 2. Recitation.—Girls; Jean Raleigh and Lorraine Cooksley. Boys: Gal via Webster and Lancelot Scott Singing.—Girls: Joyce Cruttenden, Boys; Rea Dench. Ealing dry buns —Boys: James Young 1, Ton Strakcr 2. Girls: Nora Bowden .1, Nancy Edwards 2, Lorraine Cooksley 3. Musical chairs. —Girls: P. W. Edwards, Annie Swan, Una Chamberlain and Molly McKenna. Boys: Maurice Samson, Nolan Duggin.

The judges in the elocution and vocal competitions were Mr and Mrs Oswald Teller, whilst the judging of the dancing was left in the hands of Mr J. Ferguson.
