VERDICT OF SUICIDE
FOUND IN MANAKAU HAKBOVK. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Bast Night. An inquest concerning the death of Mrs. M. Armstrong, who was found drowned in the Manakau Harbour last Monday, was held to-day. Miss A. A. Hooper said that she had employed deceased as a lady help for six weeks, and last saw her on Sunday afternoon, when she was singing hymns. -She was in bad health and suffered from insomina, whilst family troubles preyed on her mind. She had said that her husband was In England, and she wished she was dead. She often talked with spirits, and sometimes appeared to be conversing with her dead daughter. When deceased left her last Sunday, she understood that she was going to visit a friend at Onehunga. The Coroner returned a verdict ot suicide by drowning while in a depressed state of mind. KNOCKED DOWN BY BUS. AUCKLAND, Last Night. At the inquest concerning the death ot Mrs. Florence Alice Mattyke, who was killed through being knocked down by a motor-bus on September 7, the Coroner, Mr. McKean, S.M., said it was the duty of the driver, Lionel Arthur McAskell, to have exercised more caution than he did, and the only conclusion he could form was that the ’bus was negligently driven by McAskell. A formal verdict was returned that deceased died as a result of being knocked down hv a ’bus.
