SEAFIELD PROFESSIONAL GOLF
AVON BY J. A. CLEMENTS [Per Press Association.] WANGANUI, Last Night. The Sealiekl Professional Golf Tournament was concluded in fine weather to-day. The "Chronicle” championship, for a first prise of £75, was won by J. A. Clements (Christchurch) ,who was 3 op on J. Moss (Auckland), for the best aggregate for four rounds. Moss did 75 for the omrning round, which gave him a lead of three, with an aggregate of 232 for three rounds, followed by Clements 235, and Shaw 236. In the afternoon, Clements produced superlative golf, setting a new record for the course, by going round in 73, compared with 79 by Moss. The only errors made by the winner wore at the last two holes. At the 17th, ho slogged his second into a cabbage tree, but recovered for a five, and at the last he was off tiro fairway for the lirst two shots, hut again recovered. His outward score was 36, and back—37.
Clements altogether won over £IOO prize-money. Several other professionals divided the remainder of the £250 prize-money, given by the ‘Wanganui Chronicle.”
