ADVANCES IN MOTOR PROPELLED VESSELS
BUILDING ACTIVITY IN EUROPE. [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Tuesday, 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 12. The remarkable development in motor propulsion continues, according to Lloyd’s ship-building returns for the quarter ended September 30. These show the total merchant tonnage under construction for all countries at 1.850,000. of which 869,000 tons is motor, and 953,000 steam. The total under construction in Great Britain and Ireland is 774,000, which is 234,000 tons less than a year ago, and 1,115,000 below the average for the twelve months immediately preceding the war. ,
