The wall of a reservoir at West Hobart crumbled under the pressure of half a million gallons of water, which poured down the slopes of Mount Knocklofty, carrying with it huge stones and debris, and swept down, finally expending itself in th e basin of the city, flooding houses and doing a great deal of minor damage. There were no casualties, but many narrow escapes. '
