POLO TOURNEY

COMMENCES MONDAY. The N.Z. Polo Association’s annual tournament in connection with the Savile and Handicap Cups commences on the polo ground at the racecourse on Monday morning next. Over one hundred and sixty ponies will take part in the events, which will be contested by ten teams. A continuance of fino weather gives promise of an excellent tourney, and it is hoped that public patronage will be sufficiently great to justify the Association’s couildence in Feilding. Polo is essentially an amateur sport of a very skilful order, and those who have never seen the game in progress should not afil to itncssw one or the other of the several matches to be played. A nominal gate charge is fixed for this tournament, with special seats in a private stand for those who desire them. The following are the teams: — Hawke’s Bay A: 'J. Lyons (1), N. M. Mcßean Stewart (Masterton). On Saturday, March 13, the polo sports and pony races will be held, and an entertaining programme has been arranged. Afternoon tea will be available on the grounds each after, noon. Par Sixteen ponies belonging to members of the Wairarapa team will arrive at Feilding this evening to take part in the polo tournament next weekj.
