MANAWATU-OROUA BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Manai watu-Oroua Rivers Board was held yesterday when Mr. H. Akers occupied th 0 chair. Other members present wore: Messrs. A. Akers, H, J. Wilton, B. The Department of Internal Affairs advised that the Board’s application for an apportionment among various local bodies and subdivisions of the district with regard to the cost cn proposed works, would be subjected to careful consideration aftd the decision would be forwarded later.—Received. McDonald. 0 „„. n A sugestion that the Board again notify the settlers along the Oroua River that they are expected to cut their willows was made by Mr. Wilton who stated that willows had now become a general nuisance.—lt va* decided to follow the suggestion and stipulate a date when the tree should be cut. If the work is then not done the Board would do the work an charge the costs to the settlers concerned. _ A deputation comprising Messrs. T■w. Very and W. R-amsdale waited on the meeting requesting that their properties be reclassified but the chairman explained that the settlors had been given a chance to appeal ■against the new classification but had failed to take advantage of the opportunity. The Board was now helpless in th e matter. SLUGGISH RIVER. A meeting of the Sluggish River Drainage Board was hold yesterday when Mr. R. Murphy occupied the chair. Other members present were Messrs E C Print, F. C. Foster, H. Wiltoif, J. Ferguson’and E. Smith (overseer). The following tenders were accepted for various drainage works: No. G drain, Mr. J. Francis; Johnson’s’ Leen’s, Walsh’s and Longburn road drains, Messrs. Clausen and Mason; No. 2, Cooper’s, Greenway’s and Mather's drains. Messrs. Wallace and Boswell.

Tenders are to be called again for the cleaning of the Bainesisc drain. It was decided that 10 per cent, be added to all rates not paid.

The Department of Internal Affairs advised that a commission comprising of Messrs. H. W. C. Mclntosh (Commissioner of Crown Lands), N. N. Hackle (District Valuer of Palmerston North), and S. Jickoll, engineer. of Palmerston North, had been appointed to consider masters regarding the propoised alteration of the boundaries of the drainage district.
