VIRGINIAN TRAGEDY.
(Received Sunday, 7 p.m.) VANCOUVER, January 16.
Telegrams from Fairmont, Virginia, state that twenty miners entombed for eighteen hours in the fatunderground workings of the Jamieson Coal Company as the result of an ex-i plosion, were brought out alive. The workings were wrecked on Thursday night and tho rescuers to-day communicated with sixteen miners who are still entombed. Seventeen bodies have been recovered, leaving six men unaccounted for.
