In the House of Commons, Mr, Baldwin said though there was evidence of serious foreign competition, the Government was refusing the iron and steel trade’s request for safeguarding, because it would have widespread repercussion, which might conflict with the Government’s tariff policy. Mr. Baldwin also Informed Lord Apsley that the Government’s policy was that all wireless stations should be controlled by the Post Office. Australia’s application to control a beam station here would not b 0 granted. He added that he did not think there was any public, private, Dominion or foreign station at present operating in England.
