BOWLING TEST
ALL FOUR BRITISH RINKS DEFEATED. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Last Night. The British bowlers played a test match against four Auckland rinks at the Carlton Club’s green this afternoon and were defeated in all four games, the aggregates taking: Auck land 98, Visitors 53. Fine weather prevailed and the green was in good order, but a tricky south-westerly wind made play very difficult at times. Results were as follow, British players being mentioned first: — Mobbs. Wake, Wade and Wright (s) 15 v. Keatley, Coutta, Woolley and Parsons (s) 35. Inglls, Fleming, Malcolm and Lawson (s) 9 v. Clarke, Scantlebury, Crowley and Truscott (s) 22. St. Lege.r, Whitaker, Thomas and MacDougall (s) 13 v. Pascoe Ramsay, Kilgour and T. H. George (s) 18. McAuley, Bryson, Minto and Crawford (s) 16 v. Buckley. Wright, Langaford and Walker (s) 23. Four unofficial games were played by members of the British team against local clubs, the result being two games each .the local clubs leading in aggregate by 8G to 68. A feature of the test match was the fine leading of the local men, all four playing good games. The British loads were not up to the same standard. The local number two’s were also superior, but more even play was seen between the number three’s and skips. MacDougall played the finest game for Britain. Time and again he came along and robbed the local men of a good score. To-morrow the visitors will play at Pomuera green against seven teams representing local clubs and two from the Northern Waikato Association.
