FIRE AT SPREYDON
HOUSE AND SHOP DESTROYED. OCCUPANT’S NARROW ESCAPE. [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Eire early this morning destroyed a five-roomed house with grocer’s shop attached in Somerfield street Spreydon, the occupant having some difficulty in winning clear of the burning building. Th e premises were owned by Mr-. Arthur Waters, of Spreydon, and occupied by Mr. A. E. Day, who had to make his escape through one of the side windows. The stock was insured for £3OO and the furniture for £l5O, The insurance on the building was £2400.
