Polling on the Lower Hutt Improvement proposals, in which more than usual interest was taken, for the reason that the dismissal of the Borough Engineer became associated with the expression of opinion of the ratepayers were voted on to-day. There were four proposals. The first was for a loan of £7,500 to put up a pavilion on the recreation ground, the second £26,000 for road improvements, the third £30,000 for the erection of a Town Hall and the fourth for water supply and the sowerage of the surface water.
