THE EXHIBITION

NEARLY A QUARTER OF A MILLION VISITORS, [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN Last Night. The attendance at the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition has followed the barometer up. In the last two days, it hi/ beet over 10,000 on each occasion, the total up to and including yesterday being 246,919. Even the Exhibition authorities have been surprised by the way in which the attendance has kept up. “Out experience since the opening day has been quite a revelation, particularly when the weather conditions are considered. The success of the Exhibition has been amazing,” was the opinion expressed to a “Times” reporter by the general manager, IVIr C. I’. Hainsworth. , He said the present. undertaking reminded him of the first Exhibition with which he was connected. It was held in a city where, within a radius of nine miles, there was a population of over 1,000,000, but the average daily attendance exceeded those of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition by very little, when the groat difference in population was considered. The result was a wonderful indication of the immense popularity of the present Exhibition. The directors have decided, in view of the steady demand on the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders' military band throughout the holiday season, to give them a rest from Monday to Friday next week. After next week therefore, the visitors will be sure of hearing this wonderful hand whatever the date of their visit to the Exhibition.
