TRAIN RUNS INTO CHARABANC.
CARRYING TWENTY CHILDREN. SEVERAL INJURED. SOME SERIOUSLY. , [Per Press Association.! NAPIER. July 9. A twelve-seater char-a-banc bringing twenty children to school from Riverbend road collided with the Eskdalc train on the Taradale road this morning. Several children were injured, some seriously. The car was cut in two, the back overhanging portion being taken clean off. The railway track was in full view for a hundred yards, but apparently the driver, failed to notice the train until it was within a few yards. It was then too late to avoid a smash. THREE CHILDREN IN HOSPITAL. NAPIER. July 9. Three children are in hospital as a result of the char-a-banc accident, namely:— Mavis Holder, nine years of age. fractured right leg, abrasions, and shock. Eric Holder, 13 years, fractured left log. Eric Hodgkinson, 11 years, badly cut about the jaw and mouth. All the other children escaped with shock. It is stated the driver did not see the train until the children called out. ' e
